Week-of-pick checklist · harvest 2026

Fruit moving soon? Package the facts before you ask for capacity.

A same-week custom crush request needs more than “do you have room?” Use this checklist to organize the details that decide Temecula harvest fit: fruit, tons, pick window, receival, tanks, labor, storage, and bottling path.

8 items

If fruit is within seven days of picking, include all eight items in the first message so the team can evaluate timing and fit without a long back-and-forth.

The checklist

The week-of-pick details that help a facility say yes, no, or “here is the workable path.”

01

Fruit location and contact

Vineyard, grower, trucking contact, and who can approve pick-time changes.

02

Varietal, tons, and lot split

Expected tons by varietal, field block, clone if known, and whether lots must stay separate.

03

Pick window

Target pick date, earliest/latest acceptable date, and what could move the timing.

04

Fruit condition

Recent Brix, pH/TA if available, visible rot/dehydration concerns, and any spray restrictions.

05

Receival requirements

Bin count, truck timing, weigh-tag needs, sorting expectations, and after-hours constraints.

06

Cellar scope

Crush/destem, whole cluster, press only, fermentation management, barreling, storage, or bottling coordination.

07

Decision path

Who signs off on facility fit, budget, additives, oak direction, storage, and bottling date.

08

Fallback plan

What happens if fruit comes in early, runs long, arrives hot, or no tank is available.

Red flags

Do not wait if any of these are true.

These are the situations where a short, complete request can protect the schedule and expose whether a backup custom crush path is still realistic.

Pick date is inside seven days but tank space has not been confirmed.
Tons changed materially from the original estimate.
Fruit is contracted but receival, trucking, or bin logistics are unclear.
The project needs fermentation, aging, storage, and bottling but only crush pricing has been discussed.

FAQ

Same-week harvest questions.

Can a custom crush facility review a project the same week fruit is picked?+

Sometimes, but the review is much faster when the request includes fruit location, tons, varietal, pick window, receival needs, cellar scope, and decision owner. Same-week capacity depends on tanks, labor, fruit timing, and storage fit.

What if the exact pick date is not final?+

Send the best current window and explain what could move it. A realistic range is more useful than waiting until the date is locked, especially during August and September scheduling pressure.

Is this only for growers?+

No. The checklist also helps emerging wine brands, restaurants, hotels, event venues, private-label teams, and wineries looking for overflow production or tank space in Temecula.

What happens next: we review your requested timing, tanks, labor, storage, and cellar scope. Submitting a request does not reserve capacity or confirm a receiving appointment. Wait for direct confirmation before scheduling delivery.

Fields marked * are required. Everything else is optional.

A range is welcome. If volume is undecided, enter “Need help estimating.”

Share a target date or enter “Flexible / need guidance.” For fruit moving soon, include the pick date and time.

This separates ready-to-schedule fruit from sourcing, private-label, or feasibility requests.

This helps us prioritize urgent harvest capacity requests and route exploratory projects correctly.
